    Before You Order...

    Workplace Deliveries

If you're sending an order to a workplace, please let us know the office hours! We'll make sure it arrives during business hours to avoid any inconvenience for the recipient.

    Home Deliveries

For home deliveries, we will ring the doorbell or call the recipient before completing the delivery. If no one is home, driver will place the flowers in a safe location, ensuring they are protected from the weather. During extreme summer or winter conditions, we will make every effort to find a neighbor who can accept the flowers instead. A photo of the delivery will be taken, and a notification will be sent to you via email.

    Condo & Apartment Deliveries

For deliveries to condos or apartments, we will leave the flowers at the front desk or with the concierge if available. To ensure a smooth delivery, please provide the buzzer code or detailed access instructions when placing your order.

    Funeral Deliveries

For funeral deliveries, please provide the service time and the name of the deceased. Depending on the location and schedule, we will deliver the flowers either the day before or the morning of the service to ensure they arrive on time. Flowers will be placed in the designated flower room, and a confirmation email/text will be sent once the delivery is completed.

    Delivery Time

Our standard delivery window is between 1 PM and 7 PM, and while we strive to be punctual, we cannot guarantee an exact delivery time. If you require delivery at a specific time, please contact us in advance to confirm availability. During peak occasions such as Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day, our delivery hours will be extended from 8 AM to 7 PM.

    Delivery Notifications

You will receive an email confirmation once your order is placed. Additionally, we will send a notification email when your order has been delivered. If the delivery is completed under specific circumstances—such as being accepted by a neighbor, left on the porch, at the door, or with a concierge or front desk—we will contact the recipient to inform them. To ensure timely notifications, please provide a correct email address and the recipient’s contact number.

    Weather Conditions

Weather conditions may affect our delivery process. During the summer, flowers may have a shorter lifespan due to heat, so our driver will place them in a shaded area whenever possible. In winter, if the temperature falls below 0°C, there is a risk of flowers freezing. In such cases, we will do our best to find a neighbor who can accept the delivery instead. A notification will be sent once the flowers have been delivered. To keep them fresh, please retrieve your flowers as soon as possible.

    FAQs About Blue Orchids

    Are blue orchids real?

Yes, our blue orchids are real, but their vivid blue colour comes from dye instead of occurring naturally. Virtually all blue orchids available for purchase are Phalaenopsis orchids that have been dyed to achieve their striking blue hue. However, there are naturally occurring blue orchid species, though they are extremely rare and cannot usually be bought at stores.

    What are blue orchids called?

Blue orchids are commonly referred to as Blue Orchid Dyed Phalaenopsis Orchids. The term "blue orchid" highlights the distinctive colour achieved through the dyeing process.

Are blue orchids natural or dyed?

Blue orchids can be both natural and dyed. The commonly sold blue orchids, particularly the Blue Orchid Dyed Phalaenopsis Orchid, achieve their vibrant colour through a dyeing process where dye is injected into the plant's stem. This artificial method creates a bold blue hue that is not naturally found in Phalaenopsis orchids. However, there are naturally blue orchid species, though extremely rare and not typically available for purchase:

    • Vanda coerulea: Also known as the Blue Vanda, this species is native to Northeast India, Myanmar, and Thailand. It features large, flat flowers with a unique lattice-like pattern and a striking sky-blue colour. These orchids are highly sought after by collectors and are not commonly available for purchase.
    • Boella coelestis: Native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, this species has delicate, star-shaped flowers that exhibit a soft blue hue, often with a subtle purple tint. Due to their rarity and specific growing conditions, they are not typically found in commercial nurseries.
    • Thelymitra crinite: Known as the Blue Lady Orchid, this species is found in Australia. It produces striking, cobalt-blue flowers with a waxy texture, blooming mainly in the spring. These orchids are rare and protected, making them unavailable for general retail.

These natural blue orchids are relatively rare and may not always exhibit the intense blue colour seen in dyed varieties.

Can you dye orchids at home?

Dyeing orchids at home is possible but requires a careful and precise process to ensure the plant's health. It involves injecting dye into the stem and allowing the plant to absorb the colour. For the best results, we recommend purchasing professionally dyed blue orchids.

Do blue orchids need special care?

Blue orchids do not require special care different from other orchids. Their care routine is similar to that of any Phalaenopsis orchid. To keep your blue orchids healthy and vibrant, follow these guidelines:

    Indirect Sunlight

Blue orchids thrive in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch their delicate petals, so it's best to place them near a north or east-facing window. If natural light is insufficient, a fluorescent grow light can be used to supplement their light needs. In the wild, orchids often grow under the canopy of trees, receiving dappled sunlight, which explains their preference for indirect light. Orchids are naturally found in countries like Thailand, Indonesia, and Brazil, where the forest canopy provides filtered light.

    Water

Water your blue orchids once a week, allowing the potting medium to dry out slightly between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's important to ensure proper drainage. Use room temperature water and avoid getting water on the leaves to prevent fungal infections. In their natural habitat, orchids typically grow in areas with humid, tropical climates like Costa Rica, which means they receive moisture from the air and occasional rain.

    Humidity

Orchids flourish in a humid environment. Aim to maintain humidity levels between 50-70%. You can increase humidity by placing a humidity tray filled with water and pebbles under the orchid pot or by using a humidifier. Misting the orchids daily can also help, but be careful not to overdo it, as excessive moisture can cause problems.

    What do blue orchids symbolize?

Blue orchids symbolize rarity, beauty, and tranquility. Their unique colour makes them a symbol of uniqueness and sophistication, perfect for conveying admiration and respect.

Are blue orchids safe for pets?

Yes, blue orchids are generally safe for pets. However, it is always a good idea to keep any plant out of reach of pets to avoid any potential issues.

    Are blue orchids poisonous?

Blue orchids are not poisonous to humans or pets. However, it is best to keep them out of reach of small children and animals to prevent any accidental ingestion.

    Are blue orchids rare?

Yes, blue orchids are rare, especially the naturally occurring species. While dyed blue orchids, like the Blue Orchid Dyed Phalaenopsis Orchid, are commonly available in florists and nurseries, naturally blue orchids are much harder to come by.

Can blue orchids be planted in the garden?

Unless you live in a location with a humid, tropical environment similar to that in which orchids are naturally found, Blue orchids are best kept as indoor plants. They thrive in controlled environments with bright, indirect light and a humid atmosphere, making them unsuitable for outdoor planting in most Canadian climates.

Do blue orchids rebloom in the same colour?

Blue orchids will not re-bloom in the same blue colour. The dyeing process is temporary, and future blooms will likely return to the orchid's natural colour, which is typically white.
