How Does Flower Delivery Work at La Belle Fleur?
How does flower delivery work at our Vaughan florist? Flower delivery works in three stages: you place your order online, a designer hand-arranges your bouquet fresh, and a local courier brings it to your recipient's door.
At La Belle Fleur, every stage is handled in-house until the flowers leave our flower shop in Vaughan. This guide covers same-day cutoffs, packaging, delivery windows, and what happens when nobody is home.
We're a design-forward florist based in Vaughan, Ontario, serving the Greater Toronto Area, including Mississauga, Markham, Scarborough, Etobicoke, and Richmond Hill. You can check the cities we deliver to before you order.
How Does Flower Delivery Work?
Those three stages break down into five steps.
-
Browse and select your arrangement: Choose from our best-selling bouquets, or shop by occasion for birthdays, anniversaries, and sympathy.
-
Choose your delivery date and enter recipient details: Include the recipient's full name, address, and a Canadian phone number. Add any special instructions in the Order Notes field.
-
Your order is hand-arranged fresh: Our designers craft every arrangement by hand in our Vaughan studio, never pre-packaged from a warehouse shelf.
-
A local courier delivers within the scheduled window: We work with courier partners who specialize in transporting fresh floral arrangements. Our standard window is 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
-
You receive delivery confirmation: Once delivery is complete, you'll receive a confirmation email. If flowers are left with a concierge, in a parcel room, or at another designated spot, the recipient also receives a text.
Same-Day Flower Orders and the Cutoff Time
So how does same-day flower delivery work? Your order joins our daily courier route, subject to availability. To qualify, place it before 10:00 AM EST.
Ordered after the cutoff? Call us at (905) 760-0868, and we'll check whether we can still fit it in.
Same-day service isn't available for every address in our delivery area. Available dates for your specific address are shown at checkout.
When Your Flowers Will Arrive
Our standard delivery window is 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. We don't deliver on statutory holidays.
Times vary with daily volume, courier route, and traffic. On some days, deliveries arrive before 1:00 PM; occasionally they run past 7:00 PM. We can't guarantee a specific time.
If you need delivery at a particular time, contact us in advance. A dedicated courier can often be arranged, though additional charges apply.
Tracking Your Flower Delivery
Real-time GPS tracking isn't available. Once your order has been delivered, you'll receive a confirmation email from both Iprodo, our delivery system, and from us directly. If it doesn't show up, check your junk folder before getting in touch.
If flowers are left at an alternate location, the recipient receives a text notification. For a status update, email hello@labellefleurdesign.ca with your order number.
How We Package Flowers for Transit
Every arrangement is assembled and inspected before it leaves our Vaughan studio. Our courier partners handle fresh flowers specifically, rather than general parcels, which matters more than most people expect. Hydration and temperature during transit are the two factors that most affect how cut stems hold up, according to UMass Amherst's floriculture program.
One thing worth knowing on arrival: natural cut flowers often have small surface scratches or variations on their petals. These are part of the flower's organic character, not a sign of wilting.
Once flowers arrive, bring them indoors as soon as possible. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow all shorten vase life, and once an arrangement has been delivered or left at a designated spot, it's out of our hands.
Do Flowers Arrive in a Vase?
It depends on what you order. Wrapped bouquets arrive in protective floral wrap. If you'd prefer your flowers to arrive ready to display, choose from our vase arrangements, which are delivered in the vessel they're designed in. Box arrangements arrive in their box.
Getting the Delivery Details Right
Accurate information is the single biggest factor in a successful delivery. Please include:
-
Full delivery address, including unit and buzzer number
-
Recipient's full name
-
Recipient's phone number (must be a Canadian number)
La Belle Fleur can't be held responsible for failed or delayed deliveries caused by incorrect or incomplete information. If a second delivery attempt is needed, an additional fee applies.
Address changes must be requested at least 48 hours before the scheduled delivery date. Changes are subject to availability and may carry an additional delivery fee, and no change is possible once an order is in transit.
Condos, Apartments, and Office Buildings
Many condo and downtown office buildings don't allow drivers to reach individual units. In those cases, flowers may be left with a concierge, in a parcel room, or at a designated drop-off area. Some buildings don't permit concierges to hold deliveries at all. For buildings without a concierge, a buzzer code is required for the driver to get in at all.
If the recipient is unavailable and no drop-off option exists, delivery may need to be rescheduled for the following day. A re-delivery fee applies, and we can't guarantee freshness for flowers held overnight.
Include the unit or office number, buzzer code, and any building-specific instructions in your Order Notes.
What Happens if No One is Home for a Flower Delivery?
When the recipient is unavailable, the courier may attempt to leave flowers with a neighbour or at a designated location on the property, and may contact the recipient using the phone number provided.
During extreme heat or cold, flowers can't safely be left outside.
A delivery also counts as unsuccessful if the address was incorrect or incomplete, or if the recipient refuses it. In that case, the order isn't eligible for a refund or store credit, an additional fee applies to any second attempt, and the order may instead be made available for in-store pickup the following business day at our discretion.
The simplest way to avoid this: give the recipient a heads-up, or make sure their phone number is correct and active.
Surprise and Anonymous Deliveries
Most of our orders are meant to be a surprise. If yours is, note it in the Order Notes at checkout.
We don't contact recipients ahead of time to confirm a delivery date. That's the sender's choice at checkout. If the courier runs into an access problem or needs to confirm details at the door, they may need to reach the recipient directly, so we can't promise a recipient will never be contacted.
If you'd prefer the recipient to be contacted before delivery, say so in your Order Notes and we'll arrange it.
Anonymous deliveries are available on request, and we won't disclose your name. Bear in mind a recipient can refuse a delivery from an unknown sender, and a refused delivery isn't eligible for a refund or store credit.
Deliveries to Hospitals, Schools, and Hotels
Some destinations need extra planning:
-
Hospitals: Policies vary by department. Confirm with the hospital first, and provide the recipient's full name, department, and room number.
-
Nursing homes: Flowers go to the front desk or reception. Include the recipient's full name and room number.
-
Schools: Most are difficult to access before 3:00 PM, so call ahead if you need an earlier delivery. Provide the school name, the recipient's full name, and any classroom or office details.
-
Hotels: The guest name must match the reservation. Notify the hotel in advance.
-
Restaurants: Notify the restaurant and include their opening time in your Order Notes.
-
Funeral and memorial services: Provide the deceased's full name, the funeral home or church name, and the service date and time. For morning services, order 2-3 days ahead. Flowers usually go out the day before. Churches often need day-of delivery at a set time, which requires a dedicated courier at extra cost, so contact us first. Browse sympathy arrangements to get started.
What Flower Delivery Costs
Your delivery fee is calculated at checkout based on the delivery address. A few situations carry additional charges:
-
Two or more arrangements to the same address
-
Large or tall plants, which can require up to double the standard fee
-
Re-delivery attempts
-
Timed or dedicated courier delivery
-
Wedding and event orders, quoted separately
Additional fees for multiple arrangements and oversized plants are set by the delivery company, not by us, and our team confirms any extra charge with you before delivery.
